Emergency Services Planner Senior

As an Emergency Services Planner Senior, no two days are the same. You will be at the forefront of regional safety, helping prepare for and respond to a diverse range of challenges, from extreme heat and flash floods to wildfires, major special events, and complex all-hazards emergencies.
In this critical role, you'll develop and maintain emergency plans, provide technical expertise in All Hazards and Radiological programs, support training and exercises, and collaborate with Maricopa County, partner cities, towns, tribal nations, and other emergency management stakeholders to strengthen regional preparedness and response. While emergency management is at the core of this role, it has a strong technical focus on radiological emergency preparedness.
You'll do this work from our state-of-the-art Emergency Operations Center, opened in 2025. This high-tech command hub features advanced video walls for real-time situational awareness during active emergencies, plus access to an on-site fitness center to support your wellness and work-life balance.

We Require
- Three years of professional experience in program or project management for emergency operations
- Bachelor's degree in emergency management, program management, a natural or physical science, or a closely related field
- An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
We Also Value
- Experience with radioactive materials, power plants, or the Radiological Emergency Preparedness Program
- Experience developing emergency operations plans, continuity plans, training programs, and exercises; experience with NIMS, ICS, CPG 101, and HSEEP
- Experience collaborating with local, state, federal, tribal, nonprofit, and private-sector partners
- Strong communication, facilitation, presentation, and project management skills
Job Contributions
- Provides technical assistance, subject matter expertise, and planning support to County departments, local jurisdictions, tribal nations, and partner organizations to ensure consistency and integration of emergency management programs and plans
