Patient Care Coordinator

We are often the first point of contact for patients and their families. Our professionalism, expertise, and dedication help ensure that patients receive the quality of care they need. We are diligent in obtaining complete and accurate insurance and demographic information in a timely manner, enabling us to provide high‑quality, compassionate health care service to all who need it, regardless of their ability to pay.

Positions may be available in the following areas:
Emergency Room, Operating Room, Outpatient, Infusion, Maternal Child, and Transplant Services.

Hours

Monday - Friday, 9:00AM - 5:30PM

Location

Mercy Gilbert Medical Center (MGMC), 3555 S Val Vista Dr, Gilbert, AZ 85297

Primary Responsibilities
  • Communicates directly with patients and/or families either in person or on the phone to complete the registration process by collecting patient demographics, health information, and verifying insurance eligibility/benefits.
  • Responds to patient and caregiver inquiries related to routine and sensitive topics always in a compassionate and respectful manner.
  • Utilizes computer systems to enter, access or verify patient data in real‑time ensuring accuracy and completeness of information.
  • Obtains all demographics and insurance information for patients upon check‑in.
  • Answers billing questions.
  • Delivers and creates patient estimates based on insurance benefits and collects co‑pays/deductibles.

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher).
  • 2+ years of experience in a Hospital, Physician office, or any medical patient‑facing setting.
  • 1+ years of experience in a customer‑service position.
  • Basic level of proficiency with computer and Windows PC applications, including the ability to learn new and complex computer system applications.
  • Basic proficiency in typing skills.
  • Ability to be on feet for 95% of the shift.
  • Ability to push a WOW (workstation on wheels).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of registration experience in a hospital or medical setting.
  • Understanding of medical terminology.
  • Working knowledge of insurance policies and procedures and patient care settings.
