Position Summary

Join the Phoenix Children’s Inpatient Pharmacy Team at our new facility in East Valley! We are seeking dedicated pharmacists to lead and support our pediatric patients’ medication management needs. As a pharmacist, you will play a pivotal role in our inpatient pharmacy environment, ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for children. The position offers an overnight schedule of 10‑hour shifts working 7 days on and 7 days off.

Advancement opportunities range from Clinical Pharmacist I to Senior Clinical Pharmacist, with incentives including up to a $10,000 starting bonus, referral bonuses, and a relocation package.

• Reviews and manages medication orders for therapeutic appropriateness based on age, weight, height, laboratory values, diagnosis, and other clinical information. Verifies orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Effectively screens for and manages clinical alerts/conditions (e.g., allergies, interactions, therapeutic duplications, adverse drug reactions).
  • Actively problem‑solves issues with medication orders and contacts prescribers to recommend alternative therapies.
  • Complies with directives of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee for formulary management.
  • Documents clinical interventions to meet or exceed cost containment and evidence‑based goals.
  • Prepares and dispenses sterile and non‑sterile medications in compliance with policies and laws.
• Demonstrates clinical pharmacy skills in assessing and formulating medication therapy recommendations that are safe, evidence‑based, care‑appropriate, and cost‑effective.
• Participates in decentralized pharmacist duties and develops guidelines, policies, and monitoring strategies for medication use.
• Engages in ongoing education and training of pharmacists, residents, interns, technicians, students, and new employees.
• Directly supervises technical, intern, and support staff to ensure accuracy in medication preparation and dispensing and coordinates workflow.
• Acts as liaison between the pharmacy and medical/nursing staff, participates in hospital and departmental operational and quality improvement initiatives, and serves on unit‑based medical teams when applicable.
• Communicates problems, patient needs, and information to incoming staff and responds promptly to all modes of communication.
• Initiates, processes, and completes incident, adverse drug reaction, and controlled substance documentation reports. Participates in data collection and reporting of drug‑use evaluation, quality assurance, and performance improvement activities and maintains investigational drug study records as required.
• Provides evidence‑based medication education and information to patients, caregivers, and staff; offers counseling for outpatient prescriptions and targeted medication information in inpatient and outpatient settings.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (BS) in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.
  
  D.) from an accredited pharmacy school within 6 months (Required).
• Completion of a PGY‑1 pharmacy residency program accredited by the American Society of Health‑System Pharmacists (ASHP) (Preferred).

• Experience with information systems and automated/technical equipment (Required).
• One year of experience in a hospital pharmacy practice or equivalent (Preferred).
• One year of experience with a pediatric patient population or equivalent (Preferred).

• Experience with computer software, including MS Office Suite or equivalent (Required).
• Ability to problem‑solve and collaborate with team members, demonstrating empathy, teamwork, and willingness to give and receive constructive feedback (Required).

• Current licensure as a pharmacist in Arizona or eligibility through reciprocity or examination (Required).
• Current BLS and PALS or ACLS for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association (Preferred).
