We are seeking a passionate and highly skilled Clinical Pharmacist to support the ED at the East Valley Campus. Completion of an ASHP‑accredited PGY‑1 pharmacy residency is preferred but not required. As a key member of the interdisciplinary team, you will enhance patient outcomes and support medication needs of pediatric patients. This position involves 10‑hour shifts with a 7 on/7 off rotating schedule.
Incentives include evening shift differential, a starting bonus up to $10,000, referral bonuses and relocation assistance.
This role oversees the daily medication management process and provides comprehensive pharmacy services to patients from neonate to young adulthood. You will perform the duties of a registered pharmacist as defined by the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy and Phoenix Children’s, ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, maintain proper storage, and maintain documentation. The position receives supervision and leadership oversight from Inpatient Pharmacy leaders.

- Review and manage medication orders for therapeutic appropriateness based upon age, weight, height, laboratory values, diagnosis, and other patient and clinical information; verify orders in an accurate and timely manner.
- Screen for and manage clinical alerts/conditions (e.g., allergies, interactions, therapeutic duplications, adverse drug reactions).
- Problem‑solve issues with medication orders and contact prescribers to recommend appropriate alternative therapy.
- Comply with Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee directives related to formulary management.
- Document clinical interventions to meet or exceed cost containment and evidence‑based medication therapy goals.
- Prepare and dispense sterile and non‑sterile medications in compliance with policies, annual goals, and state/federal laws.
- Apply clinical pharmacy skills to assess and formulate medication therapy recommendations for medical staff that are safe, evidence‑based, and cost effective.
- Participate in decentralized pharmacist‑assigned duties when applicable.
- Assist in developing guidelines, policies, and monitoring strategies for medication use.
- Engage in ongoing education and training for self, other pharmacists, residents, interns, technicians, and student learners, and orient new employees.
- Supervise technical, intern, and support staff to ensure accuracy in medication preparation and dispensing, coordinating efficient workflow.
- Act as liaison between the pharmacy, medical, and nursing staff for medication management issues; collaborate on operational and quality improvement initiatives.
- Serve on unit‑based medical and clinical teams, providing information and recommendations for patient care.
- Support hospital and unit‑based quality and safety teams.
- Communicate problems, unique patient needs, and information to incoming staff for continuity of care; respond promptly to all modes of communication.
- Initiate, process, and complete incident, adverse drug reaction, and controlled substance documentation reports.
- Participate in data collection and reporting for drug use evaluation, quality assurance, and performance improvement.
- Maintain investigational drug study records as required by sponsors and accrediting bodies.
- Provide evidence‑based medication education to patients, caregivers, and staff for inpatient and outpatient areas.
- Offer counseling, both oral and written, to patients and/or caregivers for outpatient prescriptions when applicable.
- Provide targeted medication information (drug information) and home medication screening.
- Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as requested.
