Overview

The Medical Assistant coordinates and assists the provider to ensure safe quality/cost-effective service and care for the people within the practice population. This role provides technical clinical services and clerical support for the delivery of quality patient care as directed by licensed staff, a physician, or a mid-level practitioner.
This position is on-site at Summit Rheumatology in Gilbert, AZ.
- Collect patient assessment data including height, weight, vital signs, chief complaint/symptoms, and current medications for licensed staff review
- Prepare patients for provider evaluation by obtaining specimens, positioning for exams, listing medications, and assisting during exams and procedures
- Maintain a clean, safe work area, exam/treatment space, and lab; restock supplies as needed
- Assist with lab procedures by collecting urine specimens, collecting and preparing blood samples for reference lab; label specimens with accurate patient ordered by the physician
- Document patient information in the medical record, including updated treatment procedures, medication refills, test results, and patient concerns
- Assist with processing scripts, referrals, and authorizations as needed
- Manage patient flow, answer phones, and keep appointments efficient
- Schedule patients for injections and infusions
- Order supplies and medications; check items in and out of inventory
- Perform diagnostic testing procedures
- Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program
- Current, active BLS
- 1+ year of clinic experience
- Proficiency with MS Outlook
- Administrative skills: ability to relay information to patients in-person and via phone
- Current MA Certification
- EMR / ECW experience
- Experience with eClinical Works
- Experience working both front and back office of a medical clinic
- Experience with Prior Authorizations
- Experience with Insurance Verifications
- Specialty experience in Dermatology, Gastroenterology or Nephrology
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to salary, benefits include a comprehensive package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase, and 401k contribution (subject to eligibility). The hourly pay range for this role is $16 - $29 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
