Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant position is responsible for coordinating and assisting the provider to ensure safe quality/cost‑effective service and care for the people within the practice population. This position will also be responsible for providing technical clinical services and clerical support for the delivery of quality patient care as directed by licensed staff, a physician, or a mid‑level practitioner.

Summit Rheumatology in Gilbert, AZ

6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday

• Collect patient assessment data to include height, weight, vital signs, chief complaint/symptoms, and current medications for assessment by licensed staff
• Prepare the patient for provider evaluation by obtaining specimens, positioning for exams, listing medications, and assisting during exams and procedures
• Maintain work area, exam treatment, and lab in a clean, safe manner; restock with supplies as needed
• Assist with lab procedures by collecting urine specimens, collecting and preparing blood samples for reference lab; labeling all specimens with accurate patient  ordered by the physician
• Document patient information in the medical record to include updated treatment procedures, medication refills, test results, and patient concerns, etc.
• Assist and process all scripts, referrals, and authorizations as needed
• Manage flow of patient care, while ensuring phones are being answered, and appointments are as efficient as possible
• Schedule patients for injections and infusions
• Order supplies and medications. Check both into and out of inventory
• Perform diagnostic testing procedures

• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program
• Current, active BLS
• 1+ years of clinic experience
• Proficiency with MS Outlook

  Demonstrated ability to comfortably relay information to patients in‑person and via phone

• Current MA Certification
• EMR / ECW experience
• Experience with eClinical Works
• Experience working both front and back office of a medical clinic
• Experience with Prior Authorizations
• Experience with Insurance Verifications
• Specialty experience in Dermatology, Gastroenterology or Nephrology

The hourly pay for this role will range from $16 - $29 per hour based on full‑time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
