Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant (MA) to join our clinical team. The MA provides both clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers, ensuring high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. This position may be based at either our Willcox clinic.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties- Prepare exam rooms and sterilize equipment.
- Record patient history, vital signs, and chief complaints.
- Assist with exams, procedures, and treatments.
- Administer injections and vaccines per provider orders.
- Collect lab specimens (blood, urine, swabs) and perform CLIA-waived tests.
- Accurately document care in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Relay test results and prescription information as directed.
- Monitor quality control measures (e.g., equipment, refrigerator logs).
- Triage patients and provide urgent support as needed.
- Schedule appointments and manage incoming calls.
- Maintain and file medical records, reports, and documentation.
- Initiate referrals and obtain insurance authorizations.
- Distribute patient education materials and provide general medical information.
- Coordinate with front office and clinical staff as needed.
- Offer emotional support to patients and families.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and quality initiatives.
- Cross-train in front and back office roles.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
- Formal training and/or certification strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical protocols.
- Proficient in phlebotomy, injections, and routine medical tasks.
- Familiar with EMR systems and medical coding (ICD-9/CPT).
- Excellent communication, multitasking, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Medical Assistant Certification:
- Completion of an approved MA training program OR
- Completion of an unapproved program + certification from a nationally accredited body (as per Arizona Administrative Code).
- CPR/BLS Certification:
- Current certification required (American Heart Association).
- Fingerprint Clearance Card:
- Required for Pediatric Behavioral Health Sites – must have or apply within 7 days of employment.
- Urine Specimen Collection Training:
- Preferred.
