Navajo Preference Employment Act

Overview

This position provides services at the Echo Cliffs campus. Pharmacists are responsible for providing a comprehensive pharmacy and medication management service to patients and ensuring a consistent level of service in accordance with TCRHCC policies. Direct patient care and services are provided to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, oncology, and obstetric patients. This position requires working rotational shifts: day, evening, nights, weekends, and holidays.

The position provides the opportunity for career advancement through tier levels of Pharmacist to Advanced Practice Pharmacist as determined by pharmacy experience. Advanced Practice Pharmacist serves as a clinical pharmacist for direct clinical pharmacy services for inpatient and outpatient departments. In addition to the responsibilities of Advanced Practice Pharmacist I and II is responsible for all specialized pharmacy–based clinics and providing an ongoing analysis of clinical services to develop programs that commensurate with the highest quality of care.

Responsibilities also include the administration of policies and procedures and directing programs and activities in accordance with TCRHCC’s mission, vision, and values. Incumbent serves as the Clinic Manager of Operations at the designated clinic(s) and provides technical and administrative supervision to professional and non‑professional employees, i.e. Advanced Practice I, Staff Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacy Billers.

Qualifications

Education (Pharmacist I/II):

Doctor of Pharmacy or a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from a school recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education.

Certification (Pharmacist I/II):

  • Must have a current valid and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State or Territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
  • Must have and maintain a current valid certification of the following throughout employment:
    Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.

Experience:

  • Pharmacist I:
    Not required for entry‑level incumbents.
  • Pharmacist II: A minimum of one (1) year experience as a Registered Pharmacist.

(Pharmacist I/II):

  • A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers. All employment references must address and indicate success in the following areas: possession of high ethical standards and no history of complaints and no prior records of substance abuse.
  • Reliable and dependable; reports to work as scheduled without excessive absences.
  • Maintains a positive professional attitude and demonstrates good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of legal dispensing practices, federal pharmacy regulations and therapeutic incompatibilities.
  • Knowledge of sterile compounding (and USP 800 regulations) and non‑sterile compounding procedures.
  • Knowledge of drug‑drug, drug‑disease state, and drug‑allergy incompatibilities.
  • Knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics of common disease states and treatment modalities, pathophysiology, and pharmacokinetics.
  • Completion of and above‑satisfactory scores on all job interviews, demonstrating to the satisfaction of the interviewees and TCRHCC that the applicant can perform the essential functions of the job.
