Banner Gateway Medical Center is seeking a Certified Patient Care Assistant to join our Medical Surgical Float team. In this role you will report to our clinical care operations team and have the potential to float across the facility to a variety of unit teams where you will provide care and nursing support where we need it the most!

This is a part time NIGHT shift Position working two 12-hour shifts per week from 7pm-7:30am. You will have the opportunity utilize our self-scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage. Enjoy an 18%-night shift differential and a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential when applicable.

Located near Phoenix in Gilbert, Ariz., Banner Gateway Medical Center offers 286 private rooms, 13 operating suites, a 46-bed emergency department and shares a campus with the Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center. Our WIS and NICU services support an average of 4,000 deliveries per year. Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center Located in Gilbert, Ariz. (the Phoenix Metro area) on the Banner Gateway Campus, the center provides world-class care for oncology patients - both inpatient and outpatient - and has also brought leading oncology programs to the Banner Gateway campus including designation as a Stem Cell Transplant Center of Excellence and comprehensive Head & Neck cancer care.

Our capabilities include five linear accelerator vaults, a brachytherapy vault, an advanced diagnostic imaging suite with PET/CT scan, more than 70 infusion bays, a cryopreservation lab and much more. Our inpatient medical oncology unit also incorporates a program that utilizes the electronic surveillance partnership in caring for the patient, where remote nurses have the ability to interact with patients via two-way audio-video to assist the bedside nurse with patient care.

POSITION

SUMMARY

This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on‑going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records and provides a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department.

CORE FUNCTIONS
  • 1. Provides assistance in activities of daily living and completes necessary tasks to promote patient health, including assisting patients with basic hygiene needs, maintaining an optimum level of mobility and providing assistance with nutritional intake as needed.
  • 2. Collects patient specimens and data, including vital signs, input/output and other delegated measurements in accordance with unit/facility policy and standards of care. Documents objective data and routine aspects of patient care. Assists in the transportation of patient specimens.
  • 3. Recognizes and reports abnormalities and/or changes in the patient’s health status and responses to treatment to a licensed professional. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for which care is provided.
