Position Overview

Val Vista Pharmacy is seeking an experienced Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team. This position is primarily focused on prescription processing, patient and provider communication, prescription fulfillment, insurance troubleshooting, and supporting the daily workflow of a high-volume independent pharmacy.

We are looking for someone with community pharmacy experience who can work efficiently and accurately, communicate professionally with patients and providers, and take ownership of responsibilities without requiring constant follow-up.

Responsibilities
  • Enter and process new and refill prescriptions accurately and efficiently.
  • Review prescription information for completeness and identify issues requiring pharmacist review.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, prescribers, and healthcare offices by phone and electronically.
  • Resolve insurance rejections and other prescription-processing issues.
  • Prepare, count, package, label, and stage prescriptions for pharmacist verification.
  • Assist patients with prescription pickup and point-of-sale transactions.
  • Coordinate prescription pickup, shipping, and other fulfillment needs.
  • Maintain accurate patient, prescription, and provider information within the pharmacy system.
  • Assist with inventory, medication ordering, stocking, and expiration-date management.
  • Complete required documentation accurately and contemporaneously.
  • Follow established pharmacy policies, procedures, security requirements, quality standards, and applicable pharmacy regulations under pharmacist supervision.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
  • Identify workflow issues and communicate them promptly to the appropriate pharmacist or manager.
  • Support other areas of the pharmacy as needed and contribute to an efficient, team-oriented workflow.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum one (1) year of community pharmacy technician experience.
  • Experience processing prescriptions in a pharmacy management system.
  • Strong prescription data-entry and pharmacy math skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with patients and healthcare providers.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and appropriately upscale issues.
  • Ability to prioritize and work efficiently in a high-volume environment.
  • Dependable attendance and consistent follow-through.
  • Comfort using computers and learning new pharmacy technology.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical duties associated with pharmacy operations.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background screening and drug testing.
  • Active Arizona Pharmacy Technician license in good standing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three (3) or more years of community pharmacy experience.
  • Independent pharmacy experience.
  • Pioneer Rx experience.
  • Experience communicating directly with prescriber offices.
  • Experience with prescription shipping and fulfillment.
  • Familiarity with compounded medications and cash-pay pharmacy workflows.
What We Are Looking For
  • Works accurately without sacrificing efficiency.
  • Takes ownership of tasks through completion.
  • Communicates clearly when an issue needs attention.
  • Provides excellent service to patients and providers.
  • Works collaboratively rather than focusing only on assigned tasks.
  • Adapts well to changing workflows and new technology.
  • Looks for ways to improve efficiency and patient service.
  • 100% employer-paid health insurance for employee and children.
  • Vision insurance.
  • 401(k).
  • Profit sharing.
  • Paid time off.
  • Paid training.
  • $100 monthly Perfect Attendance Bonus.
