Location: Gilbert, Arizona

Employment Type: Full-Time

Work Environment: Flex-Hybrid model. At least one mandatory day in the office per week with the accounting / program management team. More may be required as needed for training and special projects.

Position Overview

The Financial Controller will lead the accounting department and oversee all daily financial operations. This senior leadership role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial records, managing cash flow, and providing strategic insights to drive company growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting: Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes; prepare accurate financial statements including P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
  • Internal Controls: Establish and maintain robust internal controls and accounting procedures to ensure GAAP compliance, safeguard company assets, and minimize unnecessary or wasteful expenses.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead annual budget preparation and provide regular financial forecasts to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the accounting team (A/P, A/R, Payroll) to ensure professional development and high performance.
  • Tax & Compliance: Ensure compliance across multiple states where employees work in regards to federal, state, and local regulations, for payroll tax, unemployment insurance tax, etc.
  • Cash Management: Monitor liquidity and optimize working capital to support operational stability.
  • Oversee Payroll: Ensure that all team members are paid accurately and on time.
  • Supervise Team Member Reimbursements: With the help of the support staff, insure that proper policies and procedures are in place in regards to employee spending and reimbursements.
  • Annual Tax Return Preparation: Work with outside tax counsel to be sure that tax notices and returns are filed accurately and on time.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Location: Must be able to commute once a week to an office in Gilbert Arizona after training and commute more regularly to be in office while training.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s/MBA preferred).
  • Certification: CPA or CMA certification is a plus for this role.
  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, at least 5 years in a management or supervisory capacity is a plus.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced expertise in Quickbooks and Excel is required. Experience with financial planning and analysis in excel is a plus.
  • State and Federal Tax Knowledge: Strong understanding of Federal and State and local tax compliance for Arizona and other states where team members are employed.
