Material Handler, Forklift Operator
Primary Focus
The primary role of the Material Handler/Forklift Driver is to provide all required materials to each department before they are required.
Accountabilities- Operates forklift equipment as required, ensuring safety standards are followed.
- Moves raw materials to production lines as assigned.
- Ensures that supplies arrive in proper quantities as scheduled.
- Conducts all materials handling procedures in accordance with established company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Places all materials in the designated area.
- Ensures that all parts have been accounted for based on the pick list.
- Checks off all delivered parts before the end of your shift.
- Communicates with supervisors to ensure clear lines of communication.
- Multi‑tasks and prioritizes in accordance with the company daily schedule and requirements.
- Accurately updates the inventory management system to reflect real‑time inventory status and facilitate easy tracking.
- Performs periodic audits to verify inventory accuracy and resolves discrepancies with the Inventory Analyst team.
- Monitors and reports any material damages or discrepancies.
- Other duties as assigned.
All safety policies must be always adhered to. The incumbent must work and communicate with prudence, effectively managing time, completing tasks, and working safely. Personal protective equipment will be required (e.g., safety glasses, safety boots, ear protection, cut‑level 5 gloves). The position involves regular work near moving parts and requires good manual dexterity, two‑hand coordination, and the ability to work in tight spaces.
Noise levels can fluctuate from quiet to loud. The employee must adhere to the 5S – Lean practice of keeping everything in its proper place.
- High school graduate or equivalent; training in forklift operation and safety certifications preferred.
- Forklift experience.
- Valid US Driver License.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (preferred).
- Knowledge of inventory receiving, processing, and storage procedures.
- Understanding of production line supply requirements and general production operations.
- Experience with safe practices, procedures, and overall processes.
- Experience with sheet metal, hardware, electronics, and shop tools.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices to enhance operational efficiency.
- Must meet physical fitness standards necessary for frequent lifting, walking, and standing.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment to ensure seamless operations across departments.
- Ability to adapt to changing work schedules, environments, and operational priorities.
- Analytical problem‑solving skills with good communication abilities.
