The Egg Packer is responsible for accurately and efficiently packing eggs, ensuring product quality, and labeling boxes correctly. This role operates in a fast-paced environment, requiring attention to detail and adherence to food safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, alert, and capable of maintaining productivity and quality in their work area.
Duties and Responsibilities- Pack eggs into cartons according to the daily order sheet and ensure eggs are placed into cartons as per required specifications.
- Inspect each egg for quality, ensuring all eggs being packed are clean and free from damage; remove any that are broken or flawed.
- Maintain a clean work area and prevent contamination by following all hygiene and safety protocols.
- Monitor the packing line for efficiency; report any issues to the supervisor or manager immediately.
- Verify date stamps on cartons are clear, readable, and match the order; ensure the USDA seal is correct.
- Ensure the US or EB stamp on each egg is visible and correct.
- Replace broken eggs with intact ones and place damaged eggs in designated containers for disposal or reprocessing.
- Clean up any eggs that fall on the floor immediately and keep the line free of obstructions or hazards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of packing station, ensuring clear entry/exit and tidy area at all times.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and move cartons of eggs as needed.
- Strong focus on cleanliness and product quality.
- Good communication skills to report issues to supervisors or managers.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- MUST follow safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE as required.
- Ability to stand for long periods during shifts.
- Ability to lift cartons of eggs, bend or stoop to clean up or adjust cartons as necessary.
- Ability to work in a temperature-controlled environment.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds regularly.
