Overview
The Operations Training Coordinator provides hands-on technical training to Johnson Controls employees, ensuring they are ready for their roles before handoff to operations. The position requires documenting training and keeping records up to date. Training topics include Powered Hand Tool Use, Blueprint Reading, Sealing, General Assembly, and JHA’s. Availability to work second shift (2:00PM – 12:30AM) is required.
Responsibilities- Evaluate job performance in the context of standard work procedures and quality standards.
- Provide critical hands-on training to personnel with a focus on safety and quality.
- Train groups of 4–6 for weekly durations to become job-ready.
- Facilitate onboarding for newly hired associates and act as a culture ambassador.
- Read, understand, and mentor from task lists, SOPs, OPLs, and OEMs.
- Diagnose workmanship and quality issues, providing just-in-time instruction to correct deficiencies.
- Coordinate with the Operations Team, Plant Leadership, Safety, and Human Resources to ensure complete training.
- Identify opportunities to improve training practices and make recommendations to Plant Leadership.
- Support associate engagement and retention initiatives at the facility.
- Participate as a contributing member of a team focused on safety, quality, and servant leadership.
- Exhibit flexibility and adaptability to address both planned and critical training needs.
- Successfully complete a Train-the-Trainer course to instruct a diverse workforce.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with powered hand tools and metal assembly.
- Ability to coach individuals or small groups to improve quality and productivity.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to give clear instruction.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and other safety programs.
- Time-management skills.
- Receptive to change and able to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Ability to suggest improvements and proactively maintain current job knowledge.
- Respect for diversity and avoidance of unnecessary conflict.
- Familiarity with continuous-improvement concepts such as 5S, Six Sigma, and lean manufacturing.
- Being bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Work with tools and lift objects up to 30lbs.
- Use personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety boots, etc.
- Work during second shift (2:00PM – 12:30AM).
