Job Overview
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process by ensuring efficient and accurate movement of materials both in and out of the facility. The role involves coordinating shipments, receiving incoming materials, and maintaining organized records of inventory.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and pack outgoing shipments in accordance with established procedures and standards.
- Generate shipping labels, packing slips, and other required documentation.
- Ensure that all shipments comply with shipping regulations.
- Receive incoming materials and products, verifying the accuracy of the received items against packing lists.
- Inspect shipments for damages and discrepancies, reporting any issues to appropriate personnel.
- Unload trucks and move materials to designated storage areas using appropriate equipment.
- Record and update inventory levels in the system.
- Maintain organized and accurate inventory records through inventory management software.
- Conduct regular cycle counts to reconcile physical inventory with system records.
- Collaborate with various departments, including production, purchasing, and quality control, to ensure seamless operations.
- Communicate with suppliers, carriers, and external partners to resolve issues and ensure timely deliveries.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while handling materials and operating equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards in shipping and receiving activities.
- Proven experience in a similar shipping and receiving role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with inventory management software and proficiency in using computer systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record‑keeping.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of shipping regulations and customs procedures.
- Must read and write in English.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 35 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a warehouse environment.
- Willingness to stand for extended periods.
