About us:
Founded in Brooklyn in 1918 by Robert Lee Johannsen, Lee Spring has grown into a global manufacturer with locations across the U.S., Europe, Latin America, and Asia — stocking more than 25,000 catalog products alongside custom-engineered solutions.
If you're looking for a special place to build or grow your career, you've found it. The Manufacturing Engineering Technician is the crucial link between what a customer asks for and what comes off the factory floor — turning specifications into a defined, repeatable manufacturing process.
This role defines product specifications, develops cost-effective manufacturing processes, and coordinates sourcing and production methods for both new and existing products — serving as the primary technical interface between office management and the shop floor.
What You’ll Do:
Specification & Process Analysis
- Interpret customer production specifications from drawings, blueprints, samples, or written requirements
- Analyze product material and configuration specs to confirm form, fit, and function
- Evaluate product tolerances against real manufacturing process capabilities
Manufacturing Process Development
- Determine manufacturing routing, bill of materials structure, and outside service processes
- Apply manufacturing engineering standards consistently across product lines
- Define product and raw material stock codes, including industry standards and revision levels
Documentation & Cross
- Functional Support
- Prepare cost estimates supporting sales and customer service quotations
- Generate factory orders, purchase orders, and supporting production documentation
- Review of customer order instructions to resolve technical issues, including redesigning needs
Challenges You’ll Navigate
- Translating a customer's paper spec into a process that's efficient on the shop floor, not just accurate on paper
- Catching quality-versus-capability mismatches before they become production problems
- Keeping documentation tight enough that sales, engineering, and the factory floor are always working from the same source of truth
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or associate’s degree
- Working knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes, including assembly and testing
- Strong leadership and cross-functional communication skills
