Area Director I
Through spiritual leadership and proper management, lead in developing a team in the area to carry out Young Life’s mission of introducing kids to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith.
Ministry Functions- Spiritual Development: Follow Jesus—prayer, spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth, health, and church relationships; develop a yearly personal growth plan fostering a vibrant spiritual life; seek and maintain relationships and disciplines within a church community; participate in the spiritual life of Young Life; lead teams and individuals in spiritual development; ensure ministry is rooted in prayer.
- Leadership Development: Equip leaders, committees, and staff with key volunteer care, recruitment, team building, training, supervision, and vision casting; partner with the Regional Director; build consistent gatherings for unity and vision; create a spiritual leadership plan; recruit, train and supervise staff and volunteers; provide resources for summer camps; model excellence in all ministry areas; develop a yearly ministry strategy.
- Resource Development: Lead fundraising strategy, donor care, public relations, and the TDS team; find partners to support the area vision and budget; maintain a one‑month cash reserve; build the Young Life brand and coordinate quality events to attract donors and participants.
- Direct Ministry: Proclaim and model through contact work, clubs, campaigners, and camp; lead or co‑lead a model club; supervise campaigner ministries; evaluate local schools and ministries annually; maximize Gospel proclamation through camping opportunities; serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life property or other camp each summer.
- Ministry Support: Manage accounting, administration, communication, data management, and strategic planning; adhere to policies and maintain professionalism; maintain accurate records of kids, leaders, and donors; communicate promptly and professionally; set and review yearly strategic plans; perform additional duties as needed.
- Participate in the mission‑wide staff conference every four years.
- Attend additional training as directed (e.g., urban exposure, TDS training, regional training).
- Pursue continuing education, graduate degrees, seminars, and programs for personal spiritual maturity and professional skill enhancement.
- College degree preferred.
- Must have completed Core Training – Phase One.
- Proven leadership and relational skills with kids and adults.
- Call to reach kids with the Gospel.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Includes extremes of camp assignments such as heat, cold, dirt, long hours, and physical demands of hiking, horseback riding, boating, etc. Staff must be able to handle these conditions.
