Mental Health Nurse, Psychiatry
Copper Springs, a specialized health care facility focused on mental health and addiction treatment, is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will provide direct, therapeutic nursing care to adult and adolescent patients in a structured behavioral health environment, supporting individuals through stabilization, treatment, and recovery. As a key member of an interdisciplinary care team, you will collaborate closely with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and support staff to deliver evidence‑based, patient‑centered care aligned with our mission of empathy, collaboration, and innovation.
The Registered Nurse will perform comprehensive nursing assessments, monitor vital signs and behavioral health status, administer medications and treatments safely, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition. You will develop, implement, and regularly update individualized care plans, ensuring that interventions reflect each patient’s mental health, substance use, and medical needs. This position requires strong clinical judgment, excellent documentation skills, and adherence to all regulatory, safety, and infection control standards.
In addition to clinical responsibilities, you will play a vital role in creating a therapeutic, recovery‑focused milieu. The RN will provide patient and family education on diagnoses, medications, coping strategies, and relapse‑prevention techniques, encouraging active engagement in treatment. You will facilitate or support group interventions, reinforce treatment goals, and model de‑escalation and crisis‑management techniques to maintain a safe, supportive environment for patients and staff.
This role is well suited for a nurse who is passionate about behavioral health and addiction recovery, comfortable working with patients experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms or withdrawal, and committed to trauma‑informed, culturally sensitive care. You will be expected to participate in treatment team meetings, contribute to discharge planning, coordinate care with community resources, and advocate for patient needs across the continuum of care.
At Copper Springs, we value teamwork and open communication. The Registered Nurse will collaborate with colleagues to refine clinical processes, share observations, and support quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and overall experience. You will precept or mentor new staff as needed, uphold facility policies and professional standards, and engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices in psychiatric and addiction nursing.
This is a full‑time position in an on‑site inpatient setting that may require shift work, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, with the possibility of rotating or fixed schedules. Successful candidates will demonstrate resilience, sound boundaries, and the ability to maintain calm and professionalism in high‑stress situations while consistently demonstrating empathy, respect, and hope to those we serve.
