Position Summary

The Banner Gateway Stem Cell Transplant Surgical Oncology Unit is a busy 24‑bed unit dedicated to oncology patients. As a Stem Cell Registered Nurse, you will provide comprehensive care from diagnosis through chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation, and supportive care, including clinical trials and stem cell treatments. You will develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families, manage complex treatments, and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team.

& Compensation

This is a full‑time day and night shifting position, working three 12‑hour shifts per week (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM). You will receive an 18% night‑shift differential and a flat $3 /hour weekend differential.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and developmental needs; review history and diagnostics; report abnormal results; complete assessments per policy.

  • Formulate a patient‑centered plan of care, including discharge planning; set realistic, measurable goals; collaborate with multidisciplinary team; revise the plan as needs change.

  • Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision; ensure compliance with policies and standards; promote continuity of care through accurate communication.

  • Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise plans accordingly; evaluate progress toward goals.

  • Document assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record; maintain legible, timely documentation.

  • Provide evidence‑based care and participate in research; contribute to unit or facility leadership; mentor and orient staff, patients, and families.

  • Contribute to initiatives improving patient outcomes and participate in professional organizations.

  • Undergo training and competency documentation for stem cell transplant and cellular therapy patient care, including recognition of complications, preparative regimens, prophylaxis, GVHD management, and management of cytokine release syndrome, tumor lysis syndrome, cardiac, respiratory, neurologic, renal and hepatic complications.

  • Communicate with all staff levels, physicians, patients, and families; collaborate with community providers; provide spiritual support; synthesize data to support patient and family responses.

  • Minimum Qualifications

    Valid RN license in state of practice (or compact or temporary license); BLS certification; experience in acute care nursing (including oncology or stem cell preferred). Minimum one year of acute care experience within past 12 months. Demonstrated competency in area of practice.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in nursing; professional certification preferred.
