Banner Health offers a 40-bed, all private, Level 4 trauma designated Emergency Department at Banner Gateway Medical Center in Gilbert, Arizona. The department is fully electronic, equipped for patient and family focused care, and has received Magnet recognition for nursing excellence.
As a Registered Nurse in the ED you will have the opportunity to provide high-quality care and advance clinical practice. This full‑time role involves three 12‑hour shifts per week (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) with potential for self‑scheduling. Night and weekend shift differentials of 18 % and $3 / hr apply.
Position Summary
This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice. The nurse is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by themselves or under their direction.
Core Functions
- Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs; review patient history, physical exam, diagnostics and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physician(s).
- Formulate and revise individualized plans of care with input from patient, family and health team; establish measurable goals.
- Implement plans through direct care, coordination and delegation; communicate status changes to care team; ensure compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise plans as needed.
- Document assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record; maintain legibility and timeliness.
- Provide evidence‑based care; participate in research, unit leadership, education, and mentorship activities.
- Contribute to quality improvement and professional organizations; support patient outcomes and equity.
- Supervise staff and workflow in some roles.
- Collaborate with all levels of staff and external contacts; provide spiritual support as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current, valid RN license in the state of practice, or temporary/interim/compact license.
- BLS certification required.
- Experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute‑care setting within the past 12 months; one year experience for Banner Registry/Travel positions.
- Maintain clinical performance competencies and annual validations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Professional certification preferred.
