- RN’s practice guided by the ANA Standard for Professional Nurse and Code of Ethics, applying nursing principles, practices, concepts, and procedures to patient care.
- Record patient medical history and symptoms, perform diagnostic tests, analyze results, operate medical equipment, administer treatments and medications, and assist with patient follow‑up and rehabilitation.
- Establish or contribute to care plans, including medication administration, IV line management, therapies and treatments, patient observation, and consultation with physicians and clinicians.
- Teach patients and families how to manage illnesses or injuries, explain post‑treatment and home‑care needs, diet, nutrition, and exercise programs, and self‑administration of medication and therapy.
- Provide direction to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides regarding patient care and delegate tasks appropriately.
- Support efforts to advance clinical knowledge and skills; precept new hire staff and students; assist staff and students in completing competency tasks.
- Continuously enhance knowledge in nursing management and patient care as required.
- Improve patient experience and clinical outcomes, promoting a healthy work environment.
- Apply theory‑based, evidence‑based nursing with a Shared Governance model.
- For stroke patient care: possess knowledge of stroke symptoms, protocols, NIHSS, Stroke Alert activation, quality indicators, educational materials, and community resources.
- Collect health data systematically, prioritizing based on the patient’s condition or needs.
- Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses and use nursing diagnoses to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise family‑centered, culturally relevant care plans.
- Identify individualized outcomes and develop evidence‑based plans ensuring continuity of care.
- Implement interventions, initiate treatments, medications, and emergency measures per standing orders, policies, and procedures.
- Provide nursing care addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, and social‑cultural needs of the patient and family.
- Evaluate patient progress, document observations, nursing interventions, therapeutic measures, and monitoring data.
- Continuously evaluate nursing practice against professional standards and system policies.
- Integrate ethical principles; enhance knowledge of cultural diversity and specific population needs.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, patients, families, and other providers; foster professional development.
- Develop and evaluate evidence‑based standards of care; promote changes in practice based on research.
- Consider safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivering patient care.
- Associate’s degree or Diploma in Nursing. (Stroke‑specific education requirements are in the addendum and must be met prior to start.)
- All Diploma/ADN hires must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire or have 5+ years of RN experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- 10 months in med‑surg or acute specialty setting preferred.
- 1 year RN experience required for all float positions.
- Registered Nurse (RN) State and/or Compact State Licensure in Arizona required upon hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
- Unit‑specific certification (e.g., DOP) required.
- National certification for unit‑specific patient population preferred.
