Job Location

Tempe Medical Center – 1500 S Mill Ave, Tempe, AZ 85281.

Position

Registered Nurse – Critical Care Unit (Night shift).

Responsibilities

The RN’s practice is guided by the ANA Standard for Professional Nurse and Code of Ethics.

Responsibilities include:

  • Record patients’ medical history and symptoms; perform diagnostic tests and analyze results.
  • Operate medical equipment and administer treatments, medications, and therapies; supervise IV lines, fluid, medication, and blood products.
  • Develop and contribute to patient care plans, including medication management, monitoring, and rehabilitation coordination.
  • Teach patients and families about disease management, post‑treatment care, diet, nutrition, exercise, and self‑administered medication.
  • Provide direction to LPNs and nursing aides, delegating tasks when appropriate.
  • Support clinical knowledge advancement, precept new hires, and facilitate competency completion.
  • Promote continuous improvement of patient care and clinical knowledge.
Essential Functions
  • Collect, analyze, and prioritize health data; develop evidence‑based, family‑centered care plans.
  • Identify individualized outcomes and implement appropriate interventions, including emergency and resuscitative measures.
  • Document observations, interventions, therapeutic measures, and monitor multi‑system data.
  • Evaluate progress toward outcomes and adjust care plans to maintain high‑quality, cost‑effective care.
  • Maintain compliance with professional practice standards, statutes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Integrate ethical principles and cultural competence into practice.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, patients, families, and staff; serve as a role model.
  • Implement evidence‑based practice changes to improve patient outcomes and quality of care.
  • Consider safety, effectiveness, and cost while delivering care.
Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Preferred.
  • Associate’s or Diploma in Nursing – Required.
  • All Diploma and ADN hires must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire or have 5+years of RN experience at hire.
Experience
  • At least 1year of RN experience for all float positions – Required.
  • More than 10months of experience in med‑surg or acute specialty setting – Required.
License and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – Required.
  • State or compact RN license in Arizona – Required.
  • Unit‑specific national certification (preferred).
