Nurse Intern - Optum Rx Infusion

This 10‑week summer internship (June3–Aug8,2025) offers nursing students hands‑on experience at infusion sites and patients’ homes within a designated territory (up to 60miles per day). Clinical responsibilities include IV therapy, patient assessment, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Travel to infusion sites may vary by market, and mileage reimbursement is provided.
Primary Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, analyzing clinical and lab data
- Develop, interpret, implement, and document individual care plans
- Administer IV therapy medications and manage vascular access requiring advanced nursing competencies
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress, reporting clinical and/or lab data to provider
- Document appropriately in electronic medical record
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (clinical and nonclinical) to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Provide patient education based on disease state, treatment, access, and adherence
- Travel with infusion staff to perform in‑home infusion therapy (may vary by market)
- Either:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or RN Bachelor's Degree program with graduation anticipated within 12 months of internship
- Currently in final months of an accredited ADN or RN Bachelor's Degree program and will receive the degree by the end of the internship
- Completion of an accredited ADN or BSN program, having graduated within 12 months prior to the internship start date
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Must be available to work full‑time, 40 hours per week during the duration of the summer internship program (June3–Aug8)
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment‑based work authorization (F‑1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H‑1B, TN, etc. will not be considered)
- 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
- Experience with infusion therapy
- Knowledge of clinical terminology
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
