American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ED Holds/Tele position requiring strong cardiac telemetry skills and an active AZ or Compact RN license.
Details- Acute care setting in a Level 3 trauma ED Holds/Tele unit
- Cares for ED patients awaiting placement on a unit, primarily med-surg/telemetry cases
- Patient ratio of 1 to 4
- Uses Cerner EMR
- Titrates cardiac drips including Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone per physician orders
- Night shift schedule (7p-7a) with self-scheduling that may change from time to time
- Requires 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week schedule
- Rotates holiday coverage with permanent staff
- No call or standby requirement
- Floats to med/surg/tele/overflow units and other campus EDs as needed
- No monitor tech on the unit; RNs must read and interpret their own strips
- ED PCTs are available for support
- No ventilator equipment on this unit
- Active AZ or Compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience, preferably in cardiac telemetry
- Strong cardiac telemetry background required, including ability to titrate and decrease cardiac drips per physician orders and parameters
- Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
- Must pass a Relias dysrhythmia exam prior to start (maximum 2 attempts)
- Must pass a Pass/Fail sterile technique skills lab on day one of orientation (Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes)
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
- Provides care to ED hold patients awaiting inpatient bed placement, primarily medical-surgical/telemetry cases
- May assist with ED patient care tasks such as vital signs, IV starts, and medication administration, but will not serve as the primary RN for ED patient assignments
- Completes 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation to Med/Surg/Tele at the primary campus
- Navy scrub color required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply for Med/Surg/Tele experience
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Candidates who failed the dysrhythmia exam or sterile technique test twice within the past 6 months are not eligible
- Candidates directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year are not eligible; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
