Registered Nurse (RN)

This is a tele position requiring tele skills. Candidates must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to starting. There is also a PASS/FAIL SIM LAB on the first day of orientation. Failure to pass either assessment will result in becoming a DNU (Do Not Use) for a period of 6 months.

Locations include multiple facilities in the region with the following bed capacities:

• 60 ED Beds
• 31 ED Beds

Nurses will primarily care for tele patients who are waiting for placement on a medical-surgical / telemetry unit. The role may include managing patients in emergency scenarios while they await a hospital bed.

BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory. A minimum of 2 years of strong cardiac telemetry experience is required. Candidates must be proficient in titrating cardiac drips per physician orders and parameters.

Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips, as there will be no monitor tech on the unit. Assist with various patient care activities, including vitals, IV starts, and medication administration. Familiarity with common titratable drips, including Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone, is essential.

Shift: 12-hour shifts (7a - 7p or 7p - 7a). Self-scheduling is available, although subject to change. A commitment to 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule is required. Rotating holiday shifts with permanent staff will be necessary.

Nurses may be required to float to medical-surgical/telemetry/overflow units as well as the EDs as needed.

Two shifts of orientation to the Med/Surg/Tele units will be provided at the primary location.

The facility may cancel up to 4 shifts within a 13-week assignment, or up to 3 shifts for assignments shorter than 13 weeks.

The electronic health record system used for charting is Cerner.

Candidates should expect to provide care to patients from the emergency department while supporting the overall needs of patient care within the unit.
