Registered Nurse – PACU | Gilbert, AZ | 13 Weeks Contract

The PACU is where patients wake up, recover, and begin the next step of their surgical journey. It takes a strong clinical eye, calm decision-making, and a whole lot of compassion to make those first moments after anesthesia safe and comfortable.

We’re seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – PACU to join a dedicated perioperative team in Gilbert, AZ.

  • Weekly Pay: $2,070 to $2,270
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide specialized nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical or procedural interventions
  • Perform comprehensive post-anesthesia assessments, including airway, respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, and pain status
  • Continuously monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, cardiac rhythm, level of consciousness, and other clinical indicators
  • Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition and post-anesthesia complications
  • Provide airway management, oxygen therapy, and respiratory support as clinically indicated
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, pain-management therapies, and other treatments according to physician orders and facility protocols
  • Monitor patients for bleeding, respiratory depression, hypotension, arrhythmias, nausea, vomiting, and other post-operative complications
  • Assess and manage post-operative pain and nausea and evaluate patient response to interventions
  • Communicate patient condition and recovery progress with surgeons, anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and other perioperative professionals
  • Determine patient readiness for transfer or discharge according to established PACU criteria
  • Provide patients and families with appropriate post-operative education and discharge instructions
  • Assist with emergency interventions, rapid responses, and patient stabilization when required
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized recovery environment
  • Follow infection prevention, medication safety, HIPAA, and patient safety standards
Qualifications
  • Active Arizona Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PACU/Post-Anesthesia Care Unit experience
  • Current BLS Certification required
  • Current ACLS Certification required
  • PALS Certification preferred or required by facility
  • Strong knowledge of post-anesthesia assessment, recovery, and patient monitoring
  • Experience with airway management, cardiac monitoring, pain management, and emergency interventions
  • Strong understanding of anesthesia-related complications and post-operative care
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Excellent clinical judgment, critical-thinking, and assessment skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced perioperative environment
