DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an RN for a Level II Special Care Nursery/Couplet Care position requiring a minimum of 2 years of NICU experience and NRP certification.
Details- Special Care Nursery/Couplet Care unit within an acute care hospital setting
- Level II nursery caring for neonates 32 weeks gestation and above
- 12 licensed SCN beds with an average census of 10 and typical staffing ratios of 3:1, occasionally 2:1 depending on acuity
- Patient population includes infants on CPAP and High Flow, feeder growers, rule-out sepsis, and hyperbilirubinemia cases
- RNs are not required to titrate drips
- Charge nurse manages the shift and attends high-risk deliveries, occasionally taking one low-acuity patient
- PCT/HUC support staff available to assist with neonatal care
- NNPs in house 24/7 with pediatrician on-call coverage
- Cerner EMR used for charting
- Night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with self-scheduling
- 3 weekend shifts per month required (Friday or Saturday plus one Sunday)
- One major and one minor holiday coverage required if falling within the assignment
- No call or standby requirements
- Required to float to sister facility Chandler Regional NICU
- RNs start their own IVs; certified neonatal PICC team available for line placement
- Active AZ or Compact RN license required
- BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum of 2 years of Level II NICU experience required;
Level III NICU experience preferred - Must pass a pass/fail sterile technique exam (foley catheter insertion) on Day 1 of orientation
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- May not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past 12 months
- Provide direct nursing care to neonates in a Level II Special Care Nursery and couplet care setting
- Navy blue scrub color required
- Unit-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts
- Radius rule applies for eligibility, not just pay rate
