Travel RN - Mother Baby - Newborn Nursery

American Traveler is hiring a Mother Baby/Newborn Nursery RN for a night shift Couplet Care position requiring 2 years of experience and NRP certification.

• Active AZ or Compact RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Acute care hospital experience required
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

• Work in the Couplet Care unit of an acute care hospital, a 22-30 bed postpartum unit
• Patient population includes vaginal and C-section deliveries, some requiring Mag sulfate, antibiotics, or hypertensive medications
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 3:1 couplets, or 4:1 with PCT support
• Uses Cerner EMR
• Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts from 7:00pm-7:30am
• Requires 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (Friday and Saturday nights, one Sunday)
• No telemetry or ventilator patients on this unit
• Charge nurse manages the shift and typically does not carry a patient assignment
• OB hospitalist in house 24/7 and pediatrician coverage/on-call 24 hours
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7
• Nurses perform their own IV starts, no dedicated IV team
• Couplet Care nurses do not typically float within the unit, but cross-campus floating to Chandler Regional postpartum may be required if competent
• Provide direct nursing care to postpartum couplets including newborn assessment and maternal recovery care
• Floor-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts
• Pass/fail Sim Lab required on Day 1 of orientation, with study guides provided in advance
• COVID vaccine required or a declination form with appropriate documentation and hospital approval
• Travelers required to work 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
• Travelers are first to float when floating is needed
• Dress code requires Dignity Health scrubs, though travelers may wear dark blue scrubs
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate
• Candidates must not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year, though PRN through outside staffing firms is acceptable
