The Service Clerk reports to the Store Manager/Senior Assistant Manager and is responsible for maintaining carts, assisting customers with purchases, checking prices, returning merchandise to store shelves, and supporting parking lot and store maintenance.

• Collect and organize shopping carts within the store, and retrieve carts from the parking lot and surrounding areas.
• Assist customers with loading merchandise into shopping carts and onto their vehicles.
• Check retail prices on shelves for the check stand personnel.
• Pull merchandise from the check stand (“go backs”) and return it to the proper shelf. Walk aisles and return misplaced items to their proper locations. Face merchandise on aisles as needed.
• Monitor cleanliness of the store entrance: sweep front area inside and outside, pick up and empty trash regularly, mop outside walkways, and clean entrance/exit doors daily.
• Monitor cleanliness of the store throughout the day: sweep, mop, clean, and restock restrooms as needed.

Candidates should possess the ability to:

• Read and write English, and interact with the general public and co‑workers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, product pricing codes, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
