Purpose Statement

The job of Security Guard - Secondary Lead is to identify and address welfare and security concerns for students, staff and visitors, and maintain safety at our secondary campuses by ensuring campus guards' adherence to security policies and regulations; collaborate with secondary security leads and supervisors; communicate information to the Director of Security; and assist with secondary security staff training and retention practices.

Functions
  • Administers CPR and first aid as needed and coordinates with campus staff during emergency medical situations.
  • Assists community law enforcement personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities within the school environment.
  • Collaborates with other agencies (e.g. law enforcement, community professionals, etc.) for the purpose of communicating and/or receiving information regarding situations that may affect safety within the school environment.
  • Communicates school policies and enforcement procedures to students, personnel and visitors for the purpose of ensuring their understanding and the potential consequences of violation.
  • Reviews safety and security practices of secondary campuses to ensure compliance with district guidelines and provides feedback to campus security staff and campus supervisor.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of GPS security systems, emergency responses, and district policies and procedures.
  • Reviews applications for the position of Campus Security Officer and Campus Security Lead and participates in candidate interviews.
  • Coordinates on-boarding training for new security officers including CPR, first aid, CPI, camera system, weapons detectors, alarm system, timeclock, safety and security-related employee information, district security guidelines and practices.
  • Patrols school facilities (e.g. grounds, roads, buildings, adjacent areas, etc.) for the purpose of identifying safety and security concerns, ensuring security visibility, and deterring crime.
  • Prepares documentation (e.g. incident and activity reports, security logs, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
  • Meets with campus security supervisors to discuss safety and security concerns and needs.
  • Testifies in court proceedings, and school administrative actions for the purpose of providing information and documenting illegal activity.
  • Communicates with the District Safety & Security Director regularly.
  • Maintains a clean supply of uniforms and wears them consistently and in accordance with policy.
Other Functions
  • Assists other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Safety and Security.
