Overview

This job description is for a Security Guard - Campus position at Canyon Valley School. Openings as of 6/1/2026. Position details include type, dates, location, and basic terms of employment.

Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
  • Administers CPR and first aid as needed and coordinates with campus staff during emergency medical situations.
  • Assist community law enforcement personnel to support their work within the school environment.
  • Collaborate with other agencies to communicate and/or receive information regarding situations affecting safety within the school environment.
  • Communicate school policies and enforcement procedures to students, personnel, and visitors to ensure understanding of potential consequences of violations.
  • Detain individuals suspected of illegal activities for the purpose of apprehending suspects and preventing further illegal activities.
  • Escort assigned personnel and/or documents for safety and security purposes.
  • Investigate potential campus crimes and student-related incidents and refer to outside agencies as needed.
  • Patrol school facilities to maintain security and deter crime.
  • Prepare documentation such as incident and activity reports and security logs.
  • Respond to emergency situations to address immediate safety concerns.
  • Supervise students in detention programs within the security department to ensure task completion.
  • Testify in court proceedings and administrative actions when necessary to document activity.
  • Transport students off campus when required for safety or disciplinary reasons.
  • Communicate with the District Safety & Security Director as incidents arise.
  • Maintain a clean supply of uniforms and wear them in accordance with policy.
Other Functions
  • Assist other personnel to support them in completing their work activities.
Job Requirements

Mental Requirements

Learning Development - Level B:
Sufficient to read and write technical information and instructions, perform basic arithmetic, understand procedures, or operate equipment with some training. Equivalent to high school completion.

Problem Solving - Level 1:
Work situations are routine and regularly recurring, requiring attention and concentration with limited discretion and planning to respond and carry out work activities.

Physical Requirements

Physical Skill - Level A:
Basic level of learned physical skill; no special coordination beyond normal mobility and handling of everyday objects.

Physical Effort - Level 2:
Light physical effort; frequent standing and walking; occasional lifting, guiding, and carrying of light-weight materials or equipment; occasional sustained effort.

Social Requirements

Human Relations Skill - Level A:
Ordinary conversational skills and courtesy to exchange routine information and provide routine assistance.

Scope of Contacts - Level 1:
Peers and immediate supervisor; occasional contact with others outside the organization.

Changes in environment or workflow are infrequent.

Physical Working Conditions - Level 3:
Frequent exposure to moderately hazardous conditions.

Responsible for producing journey-level work independently under supervision and review.

Experience, Education, and Certifications

Experience: Job-related experience is required.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Certifications/Clearances: CPR and First Aid (upon hire). Must possess a valid Arizona DPS Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card while employed.

FLSA Status: Non Exempt
