Fleet Maintenance Technician Class A – Gilbert, AZ
Location & Schedule436 S Hamilton Ct, Gilbert, AZ 85233. All available schedules include weekend days.
What you’ll do- Responsible for maintenance, electrical service, diagnosing, and repair of MTM Transit service vehicles
- Responsible for general maintenance and repairs of MTM Transit facilities and grounds
- Areas of repair to include automotive vehicle, light duty truck, heavy duty transit bus powertrains, undercarriage/chassis, electronic and electrical equipment, air conditioning and heating systems, vehicle accessories and equipment, drivability and diagnosis
- Ensure accuracy when completing electronic work orders
- Assist in maintaining shop and facility, including servicing vehicle lifts, pumps, and other equipment as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned or required
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Minimum of 4+ years of auto/truck experience or automotive courses from an institute
- Must be 21 years or older
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License for the past 3 years
- Valid authorization to work in the State of Arizona and United States
- Must pass DOT physical and pre‑employment drug screening
- Must pass criminal background check investigation & Motor Vehicle Record check (no DUI, DWI or reckless driving in the past 5 years; no more than 1 moving violation in each of the last 3 years; if license was revoked, at least 3 full subsequent years post‑reinstatement with no violations)
- Must possess AC609 Certification or ability to obtain it
- Experience using hand and power tools, machinery, sophisticated test and diagnostic equipment related to automotive repair
- Willing to obtain proper hand tools if not already owned (diagnostic, heavy and specialty equipment will be supplied)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organizational skills with attention to timeliness and details
- Proficient computer skills to ensure electronic repair work orders are completed correctly
- Visible demonstration of safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures
- Willingness to attend safety and vehicle repair courses as may be required
- Willing to adhere to company policies, procedures and regulations
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Regular attendance required
- ASE certifications preferred for level A mechanic; additional ASE certifications are a plus
- Starting hourly pay: $33.50
- ASE Certification Bonus Program – including Master ASE certification bonuses ($2,500 annually per retained Master ASE in approved series, $250 for each initial passing of an ASE test, up to 2 paid tests per test); additional testing may be self‑responsible after 2 failures
