Traffic Signal Specialist (I, II, III)
Team Gilbert is seeking a highly motivated professional to fill the Traffic Signal Specialist I, II, or III position. The level at which someone is hired depends on experience, skill set, and certifications.
Primary Responsibilities- Install, perform preventative maintenance, operate, and repair electrical and electronic traffic signal control devices and other Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) components.
- Install, maintain, and repair Pan‑Tilt‑Zoom cameras, Anonymous Re‑Identification cameras, and Accessible Pedestrian Stations associated with the Town's traffic signal system.
- Interpret electrical plans, code requirements, electronic schematics, and diagrams for installation and maintenance.
- Prepare reports and maintain accurate records of all installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
- Establish and maintain effective work relationships with private contractors.
- Plan and schedule personnel, equipment, and materials for traffic signal system work projects.
This is an at‑will position and is FLSA Non‑Exempt, eligible for overtime compensation.
Position may require a pre‑employment physical and/or drug screen.
Position requires working at heights up to 25 feet.
Qualifications by LevelLevel I:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1–3 years of experience in electrical systems, traffic signals, traffic safety, installation/maintenance, or equipment operation.
- 24/7 stand‑by, on‑call rotation is mandatory.
- IMSA International Municipal Signals Association Signal I Certification within 18 months of hire.
- Arizona Driver's License.
- Pay range: $27.23 – $39.48.
Level II:
- High School Diploma or GED;
Associate's Degree in Electronics, Engineering, Technology, or a similar field preferred but not required. - 3–5 years of experience in electrical systems, traffic signals, traffic safety, installation/maintenance, or equipment operation.
- 24/7 stand‑by, on‑call rotation is mandatory.
- IMSA International Municipal Signals Association Work Zone I & Signal Tech I Certifications at hire, Work Zone Safety certification from an accredited agency, and IMSA Traffic Signal I Certification.
- Arizona Driver's License.
- Pay range: $29.43 – $44.15.
Level III:
- Associate's Degree in Electronics, Engineering, Technology, or a similar field preferred but not required.
- 5–7 years of experience in electrical systems, traffic safety installation/maintenance, or equipment operation.
- 24/7 stand‑by, on‑call rotation is mandatory.
- IMSA International Municipal Signals Association Work Zone I & Signal Tech II and Traffic Signal Inspector Certifications at hire, Work Zone Safety certification from an accredited agency, and IMSA Traffic Signal II Certification.
- Arizona Driver's License.
- Pay range: $32.91 – $49.37.
