Position: Captain - Gulfstream 650 (Scottsdale, AZ)

Position Summary

The pilot in command reports to the lead captain regarding company operating policies and procedures. The pilot in command is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of flight assignments with an emphasis on safety, security, and quality. The pilot in command exercises final authority for the safe conduct of all flights to which they are assigned.

Minimum Requirements
  • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating
  • FAA First Class Medical
  • 3500+ total fixed‑wing flight hours
  • 1500+ multi‑engine land flight hours
  • 1500+ pilot‑in‑command flight hours
  • 500+ turbojet flight hours
  • 1500+ turbine time
  • 100+ night flight hours
  • 75+ actual or simulated instrument flight hours
  • 5 years of aviation experience
  • Ability to work flexible schedules
  • Willingness and ability to travel worldwide extensively without restrictions
  • Valid driver’s license
Main Responsibilities
  • Safely operate the aircraft, determine departure times and routes, and cancel flights based on weather or other conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Institute necessary changes as required by en‑route conditions so the flight may continue under appropriate policies.
  • Conduct the flight in a safe and prudent manner in accordance with industry and company standards.
  • Accurately complete all trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures.
  • Ensure thorough understanding with the second in command regarding all aspects of flight.
  • Record all aircraft discrepancies on the discrepancy log and report them to the director of maintenance or their designee promptly.
  • Determine that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically fit for duty.
  • Maintain a complete working knowledge of all aircraft systems and emergency procedures.
  • Secure the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage as instructed by company management.
  • Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts and NOTAMS from an FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
  • File or cause a flight plan to be filed with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
  • Analyze area, enroute and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternates.
  • Perform the functions of the TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the applicable security program.
  • Conduct required passenger safety briefings or assign that duty to the second in command.
  • Impart knowledge and skills to the second in command to prepare them for emergency pilot‑in‑command duties.
  • Complete and send the leg manifest to ops control prior to each departure.
  • Complete and send the End of Day (EOD) report to ops control upon completion of each flight day.
  • Actively support the open sharing of information on all safety issues and report all safety hazards and concerns.
  • Make an immediate report in any hazardous action, conduct or event to the chief pilot and director of safety.
  • Delegate duties, but not the overarching responsibility for them.
  • Other duties may be required as needed.
  • Represent Jet Aviation internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies and the General Dynamics network.
