Material Handler
Warehouse Associate – Summary
Receives, stores, and distributes material and products within establishments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
- Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas.
- Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
- Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to production workers or assembly line.
- Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department.
- Marks materials with identifying information.
- Opens bales, crates, and other containers.
- Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
- Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
- Arranges stock parts in specified sequence for assembly by other workers.
- Compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
- Completes requisition forms to order supplies from other plant departments.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
- Quantity – Meets productivity standards; completes work promptly and seeks to increase productivity.
- Safety and Security – Observes safety procedures, determines appropriate action beyond guidelines, reports unsafe conditions, uses equipment properly.
- Attendance/Punctuality – Consistently present and on time; ensures coverage when absent.
- Dependability – Follows instructions, responds to management, keeps commitments, works long hours when necessary.
- Education and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months of related experience/training; or equivalent combination. - Language
Skills:
Ability to read, comprehend simple instructions, write simple correspondence; effectively present information to customers, clients, and employees. - Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide with whole numbers, fractions, decimals; compute ratios, rates, percent; interpret bar graphs. - Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.
- Other
Skills and Abilities:
Bilingual in Spanish helpful but not required.
- Regularly stand, walk, use hands to handle items; reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear.
- Occasional climbing or balancing; lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
- Requires close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, focus adjustment.
- Frequently exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat.
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places.
- Noise level usually loud.
