Western Welding Academy (WWA) is a hands-on, mission-driven trade school dedicated to developing skilled welders and empowering students to reach their full potential. As a Student Selection Representative, you'll guide prospective students from first conversation through enrollment and start readiness.
This role is ideal for someone who is confident on the phone, skilled at building trust quickly, and motivated by helping people take real steps toward a better future. You'll combine consultative selling with consistent follow-up-making sure students feel supported, informed, and ready to begin.
What a Student Selection Representative Does
A Student Selection Representative helps prospective students:
- Understand whether WWA is a good fit for their goals and timeline
- Take the next steps to apply and enroll
- Navigate common barriers (finances, logistics, confidence, family concerns)
- Stay engaged and on track through their start date
Key Responsibilities
Build relationships and guide decisions
- Connect with prospective students via phone, text, email, and in-person events.
- Conduct consultative conversations to understand goals, readiness, and fit.
- Clearly communicate program value, expectations, start dates, and outcomes.
- Confidently ask for commitment and guide students to an enrollment decision.
- Support students through applications, documentation, and required steps.
- Maintain consistent follow-up and accountability to keep momentum strong.
- Help students navigate funding steps (financial aid, loan options, payment plans) as applicable.
- Address questions and concerns early-calmly, professionally, and with empathy.
- Track activity, notes, and next steps in the CRM with accuracy and consistency.
- Meet or exceed monthly/quarterly performance goals and required activity metrics.
- Participate in coaching, training, and team meetings to improve skills and results.
- Represent WWA professionally at recruiting events as needed.
- Strong conversion from inquiry → application → enrollment → start
- High student follow-through and low drop-off between enrollment and start date
- Students and families feel respected, informed, and confident in their decision
- Accurate CRM records and reliable reporting
- Consistent contribution to enrollment goals and team performance
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Sales experience (consultative selling strongly preferred)
- Strong communication skills: confident on the phone, clear and professional in writing
- High follow-up discipline and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Comfort using CRM systems and Microsoft Office (or similar tools)
- Experience in admissions, enrollment advising, education, workforce development, or high-ticket services
- Familiarity with trade schools, welding, or career training programs
- Experience supporting financing conversations with care and clarity
- Primarily office/desk-based work with phone and computer use
- Occasional event work requiring standing/walking; may lift up to 25 lbs
- Business hours are from 7am - 5pm, Monday - Friday, standard work week is 50 hours per week.
Pre-employment drug testing is required as a condition of employment, and continued employment may be contingent on meeting our drug-free workplace standards.
The pay range for this role is:
70,000 - 85,000 USD per year (Gillette)
