Job DescriptionThis position is 8 hours/day and 187 days/year.
This position starts August 19, 2026.
Purpose Statement: The job of In‑School Discipline Program Assistant is to oversee students assigned to “In‑School Suspension”; document students' behavior; monitor and assist students with assignments; and provide information to teachers, parents, and/or other personnel.
Essential Functions- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, staff, etc., to ensure students successfully complete assignments, missing work, tests, etc.
- Communicate with a variety of people (ED, LD and regular education students, staff, parents, etc.) for evaluating situations and responding to needs.
- Maintain a variety of student records (confidential and non‑confidential) to ensure that student information is kept safe and confidential.
- Monitor students during assigned periods (before school, after school, etc.) to ensure safety and welfare.
- Obtain and monitor lessons assigned by teachers to ensure completion of assignments.
- Perform record‑keeping and clerical functions (attendance, homework logs, behavior reports, etc.) to support teachers and administrators.
- Provide verbal and/or written feedback to assist certificated personnel and/or parents in identifying needs and evaluating students.
- Respond to inquiries (students, teachers, administrators, parents, etc.) to solve problems, provide information and/or direct to other sources.
- Supervise ISDP Aides as assigned to guide them in performing their duties.
- Assist other personnel, as may be required, for an efficient and effective work environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Skills required to perform multiple non‑technical tasks, with an expectation to upgrade skills as the job evolves. Specific skills include applying assessment instruments; adhering to safety practices; administering first aid; preparing and maintaining accurate records.
Knowledge required includes: application of relevant laws, codes, policies, and regulations; teaching strategies; working with families; child development stages.
Ability required: schedule activities; gather and collate data; use basic job‑related equipment; problem‑solving; leadership and teamwork; communication across diverse backgrounds; work independently under time constraints; maintain detailed and confidential records; facilitate communication among divergent positions.
Experience: Job‑related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.
Education: Targeted job‑related education that meets the district’s prerequisite requirements.
