Current hourly rate: $32.00 per hour. Night shift differential: $4.00 per hour. Sign-on bonus: $13,000 for officers from agencies with 20 or more certified officers; $10,500 for officers from agencies with 19 or fewer certified officers.

• Conduct investigations into witnessed or alleged criminal activity; interview and take statements from witnesses, victims, and suspects; collect and process physical evidence, including submitting evidence for laboratory testing.
• Respond to calls for service in all types of emergency situations, including medical emergencies, civil disputes, criminal complaints, aggressive or violent individuals, etc.
• Patrol assigned area and conduct proactive law enforcement; identify signs of criminal activities and respond accordingly.
• Perform traffic enforcement duties; conduct traffic stops when violations are observed; issue citations.
• Document incidents and prepare required reports.
• Assist in the preparation of court documents, including search and arrest warrants.
• Serve arrest warrants, search warrants, and criminal subpoenas; enforce court orders.
• Perform the duties of a Field Training Officer as assigned.
• Serve on special teams and task forces as assigned; serve as a School Resource Officer as assigned; serve as a Detective as assigned.
• Maintain assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Complete required training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Knowledge of relevant federal and state laws, criminal and traffic codes, search and seizure laws, town ordinances, and department policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of traffic accident investigation techniques and procedures.
• Knowledge of the geography and streets of the city.
• Knowledge of the court system and judicial procedures.
• Skill in the use of a computer.
• Skill in operating police vehicles, firearms, and emergency equipment.
• Skill in operating radios and communications equipment.
• Skill in operating radar equipment.
• Skill in restraining persons without causing physical harm.
• Skill in oral and written communication.

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to a high school diploma or GED.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Wyoming for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a Peace Officer Certification issued by the Wyoming Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission.
