Instructional Assistant - Technology Assistant

Purpose Statement: The Instructional Assistant – Technology Assistant maintains classroom, lab, and office technology; supports grading and administrative programs; instructs students and staff on technology and software; and promotes technology skills.
Essential Functions- Assess hardware and software malfunctions to determine corrective actions for technology lab, classroom, and assigned computer operations.
- Assist in preparing documentation such as reports, instructions, and memos to provide written support and convey information.
- Help schedule students, teachers, and technical support personnel to maintain lab operations.
- Assist students and teachers in using computer technology, software applications, and related hardware to maintain a safe learning environment.
- Monitor student activities in the computer lab to ensure a safe learning environment.
- Install computer hardware and software, including new computers, peripheral cards, operating systems, and printers, to provide and upgrade instructional equipment.
- Instruct students and teachers in using technology such as video conferencing, presentation equipment, laptops, and digital cameras to enhance understanding of technology.
- Maintain inventory of computer hardware, software, passwords, and supplies to ensure availability and proper operation.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance of lab equipment (e.g., cleaning, virus scanning, clearing bookmarks) to keep equipment safe and operational.
- Work with the Building Technology Committee to recommend hardware and software acquisitions and lab design.
Minimum Qualifications
SKILLS – Operate technology lab and classroom equipment, including software such as Power School and Power Grade.
KNOWLEDGE – Basic math (fractions, percentages, ratios); read manuals; write documents; understand complex instructions. Knowledge of personnel computers, server/network configurations (TCP/IP), and educational software applications.
ABILITY – Schedule activities, collate data, work with multiple individuals, and solve problems using equipment. Display mechanical aptitude, handle frequent interruptions, and communicate with diverse groups.
Responsibility – Work under supervision using standardized routines, provide information and advice, and operate within a defined budget.
