The Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg provides direct patient care to adult and geriatric patients by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care in collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities include medication administration, diagnostic testing, documentation, patient and family education, and monitoring patient progress.
The RN coordinates and delegates patient care activities, supports continuity of care, and practices in accordance with the Wyoming Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association standards, National Patient Safety Goals, and CCMH mission, vision, and values.
Essential Functions- Performs patient assessment and documents in patient record.
- Develops an age‑appropriate plan of care that addresses physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.
- Implements the plan of care, delegates appropriately, and ensures documentation of interventions.
- Provides safe patient care by performing bedside shift reporting, hourly rounding, and participation in huddles.
- Evaluates progress towards desired outcomes, revises plan of care and intervenes as necessary.
- Educates patients and families regarding current health status, plan of care, and anticipated outcomes.
- Provides service excellence to all customers.
- Demonstrates efficient time management and prioritization skills.
- Maintains professional standards related to clinical practice, staffing, and continuing education.
- Practices fiscal responsibility and accountability.
- Actively participates in hospital committees, CQI teams, and Quality Improvement Program.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment.
- May be required to work on other nursing units according to distribution of staff and patients.
- Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
- Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program, including the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
- Supervises the CNA and CNA II.

- Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- BSN preferred.
- Licensure
- Wyoming RN license
- Experience
- Experience in medical/surgical nursing preferred.
- Certifications required
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification
