Works with Journeyman and others in the installation and maintenance of plant equipment and other work as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Operates and observes the operation of conveying equipment, coal breakers, and reciprocating loaders.
• Assists with the loading and unloading of coal in the coal handling system.
• Reads a weightometer.
• Keeps area around conveyors clean as assigned.

Safety and Security: Observes safety and security procedures;
Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines;
Reports potentially unsafe conditions;
Uses equipment and materials properly.

• High school diploma or proof of equivalent GED.
• Prior experience with hand tools and small power tools.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, or greater.
• Must pass a physical exam, upon request.

• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit and talk or hear.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision and Depth perception.
• Typically uses hand tools such as brooms, shovels, hand carts, maintenance tools, such as screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, jack hammers, etc.
• Operates forklifts and pickup trucks.
• If working outside the Plant worker may stand or walk up to 80% of the day.
• If assigned inside the Plant may walk 50% of day.
• Surfaces are variable: uneven ground, paved, grating, concrete or mud.
