Job SummaryThe Carpenter will perform a variety of tasks in building, installing, and repairing structures, frameworks, and fixtures. The role requires experience in rough and finished carpentry, the ability to read blueprints and specifications, and a strong sense of safety and teamwork.
Duties & Responsibilities- Perform carpentry tasks such as framing, roofing, flooring, and drywall installation.
- Construct, install, and repair structures including walls, partitions, and roofing systems.
- Build and install custom cabinetry, windows, doors, and other wood-based components.
- Read & interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Ensure dimensions, angles, and placements are accurate.
- Measure, cut, and shape wood, drywall, and other materials using hand and power tools.
- Inspect materials for defects and use proper materials.
- Install and finish woodwork such as baseboards, trim, and moldings.
- Apply finishing techniques (sanding, staining, painting) for a polished appearance.
- Follow safety procedures and regulations; wear PPE.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople and project managers to meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks.
- Assist with site preparation, marking, and layout for construction projects.
- Provide support during inspections or troubleshoot construction-related problems.
- Maintain existing structures by repairing or replacing damaged woodwork, frames, and fittings.
- Ensure all work meets building codes and specifications.
- Inspect finished work for accuracy, precision, and craftsmanship.
- Maintain, clean, and inspect carpentry tools and equipment.
- Notify supervisors of any equipment malfunctions or issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Associate’s Degree in carpentry or construction management (preferred).
- OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain.
- Driver’s License.
- 3‑5 years in carpentry, including framing, finishing, and cabinetry.
- Hands‑on experience with hand and power tools such as saws, drills, sanders, and nail guns.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of local building codes and safety regulations.
- Experience in ensuring compliance with legal and safety standards.
- Experience in physically demanding roles involving lifting, standing, and outdoor work.
- Teamwork and communication with supervisors and clients.
- Proficiency in framing, finishing, cabinetry, and drywall installation.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Competence in using hand and power tools including saws, drills, nail guns, and measuring equipment.
- Strong math skills for accurate measurements and geometry.
- Meticulous attention to detail for precise workmanship.
- Problem‑solving skills to address material shortages, design discrepancies, or challenges.
- Good physical condition and stamina for manual labor.
- Knowledge of safety practices and regulations.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
- Team player orientation.
- Adaptability to changing project requirements, timelines, and work conditions.
- Light to Medium physical work, lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Repetitive wrist, hand, and finger motions.
- Driving required.
- Work primarily in commercial environments and outdoors for field repairs.
- Exposure to noise, fumes, and varying temperatures.
- Overtime and weekend work may be required.
