High School Teacher
The responsibilities of a high school teacher is to develop students' academic courses of study and implement District approved curriculum, document teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes, address specific educational needs of students, provide a safe and optimal learning environment, and provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Essential job functions include advising parents and/or legal guardians of student progress, assessing students for feedback, assisting other teachers, collaborating with school personnel and community agencies, demonstrating methods required to perform assignments, directing instructional assistants, instructing students, monitoring student activities, preparing teaching materials and reports, and reporting incidents.
Other job functions include assisting other personnel as may be required and participating in various meetings.
Job requirements include prior job related experience, skills to motivate students, communicate with individuals from varied educational and cultural backgrounds, direct support personnel, evaluate performance, knowledge of age appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum framework, education code, appropriate instructional subjects, and abilities to stand and walk for prolonged periods, perform a variety of specialized and responsible tasks, maintain records, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, other school personnel, meet schedule and deadlines.
Licenses, certifications, bonding, and/or testing required include a current California teaching credential for appropriate grade level and/or subject area and California Department of Justice and FBI Fingerprint Clearance.
