Position
Wastewater Operator II – Gilroy, CA
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Operate, monitor, and control wastewater treatment processes, including liquid treatment and biosolids systems.
- Interpret SCADA data, laboratory results, and process indicators to make process control adjustments.
- Start, stop, and adjust pumps, blowers, valves, and chemical feed systems.
- Perform process control calculations and determine chemical dosages and flow rates.
- Operate and troubleshoot PLC and SCADA systems.
- Collect samples and perform routine laboratory testing.
- Identify process upsets, diagnose operational issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with NPDES permits, SWRCB regulations, and safety requirements.
- Accurately complete logs, reports, and regulatory documentation.
- Provide technical guidance to lower‑level operators when assigned.
- Act as shift lead in the absence of supervisory staff when assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade III certificate.
- Minimum of three (3) years of wastewater treatment plant operations experience.
- Valid California driver’s license.
- Experience with activated sludge, nutrient removal, and biosolids processes.
- Strong knowledge of California wastewater regulations and permit compliance.
- Experience using SCADA, CMMS, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
