Role Description The Service Manager is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Gilroy, CA. This position oversees the daily operations of the service department, including managing service advisors, technicians, and support staff to ensure efficient workflows and high‑quality repairs. The Service Manager monitors service appointments, work orders, and shop capacity, while maintaining strong communication with customers regarding diagnoses, repair timelines, and costs.

Responsibilities include enforcing safety and quality standards, managing warranty and policy work, and coordinating with parts and sales departments to optimize customer experience. The role also involves tracking key performance metrics, handling escalated customer concerns, training and mentoring team members, and supporting business growth through excellent service and operational discipline.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in automotive service management or a similar supervisory role in a dealership or repair facility.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and conflict‑resolution skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain long‑term relationships.
  • Solid understanding of automotive repair processes, manufacturer warranty procedures, and service department workflows.
  • Proficiency with dealership management systems, service scheduling tools, and basic office software (e.g., MS Office).
  • Ability to lead, coach, and motivate a diverse team, including service advisors and technicians, while maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management abilities, including prioritizing tasks in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance with manufacturer and regulatory standards.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or business education and manufacturer certifications are beneficial.
  • Prior experience in an automotive dealership setting and familiarity with multiple vehicle brands is a plus.
