Summary
The primary responsibility of an Installer Helper is to assist in the installation of slab counters and walls with the intent of reaching a journeyman level. An apprentice installer will gain the knowledge required to become a Journeyman Slab Installer.
Positional Responsibilities- Learn how to properly prepare substrates to meet all industry specifications for slab installation, typically in countertops and walls.
- Fabricate and make adjustments in the field, including cutting, drilling, gluing, polishing, and installing all types of undermount sinks.
- Install slab counters and walls flat, level, and true to a plane with minimal lippage at the seams as set forth by the MIA.
- Use color‑matching caulk at all changes in plane such as horizontal to vertical and inside corners to walls.
- Self‑inspect all work upon completion to ensure all quality expectations have been met; when required, finished work will be signed off and accepted by the builder.
- Build and maintain interpersonal relationships with coworkers and the builder.
- Read and understand work orders, blueprints, and diagrams, ensuring all instructions match provided diagrams.
- Gain complete product knowledge and understand appropriate use of adhesives and mortars for installing slab counters and walls.
- Work and adjust to varying jobsite conditions typical in new home and commercial construction.
- Perform mathematical calculations for estimating quantities, providing takeoffs, and determining time, resources, and materials needed for timely completion.
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
- Receive and follow instructions from builder representatives and the immediate Field Supervisor.
- Preferred combined experience of 5 years as an apprentice and journeyman installer.
- Work professionally and independently with demonstrated teamwork capability.
- English; bilingual preferred.
- Arm‑hand steadiness to maintain a steady arm and hand while holding positions.
- Trunk strength to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously without fatigue.
- Manual dexterity to quickly move hands, arms, or both to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
- Extent flexibility to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with the body, arms, and/or legs.
- Static strength to exert maximum muscle force for lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying objects.
- Dynamic strength to exert muscle force repeatedly or continuously over time, requiring muscular endurance and resistance to fatigue.
- Handling and moving objects while installing, positioning, and moving materials.
- Job duties performed primarily at the job site, either residential or commercial.
- Requires outdoor work on a regular basis.
- Encounter varying weather conditions and temperatures.
- Noise level usually high.
- Full‑time with some overtime.
Salary - $16.90 hourly
