Overview

Oakhill Day School is seeking a 3rd‑5th Grade Science Teacher (Lower School and Intermediate Division). An innovative, energetic, and collaborative Science Teacher is needed for our 3rd‑5th Grade classes for the 2026–2027 school year. This position includes a 3/4 day teaching schedule, as well as time spent enhancing science based school initiatives such as our recycling program, creating and running science clubs, and maintenance in the Living Lab.

The ideal candidate should be internally motivated to follow our mission - challenge, know, value and inspire students to be the best they can be.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate science instruction that skillfully enhances the written curriculum and inspires student curiosity.
  • Establish safety procedures and protocols for a 3rd‑5th grade science classroom.
  • Support the academic, social, and emotional growth of students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, planning, interdisciplinary opportunities and assessment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Organize and maintain the school‑wide recycling initiative.
  • Collaborate with the science department to maintain the Living Lab and enhance student outdoor learning experiences.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, school events, and professional development.
  • Contribute to the broader life of the school community.
Professional Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education or related field.
  • Relevant teaching or professional experience.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Flexibility, professionalism, and a growth mindset.
