About Our Role

Carinity Education
- Gladstone is seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth Worker - VET to support students engaged in Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs.

This rewarding role provides an opportunity to work alongside young people as they develop confidence, practical skills, positive work habits, and pathways into further training and employment. Working closely with the VET Coordinator, trainers, and the wider school team, you will play an important role in encouraging student participation, fostering wellbeing, and helping young people overcome barriers to learning.

As a trusted mentor and positive role model, you will contribute to creating a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Your Day-to-day Will Involve
  • Support students participating in VET and practical learning programs, encouraging engagement, attendance, and achievement
  • Build positive and meaningful relationships through mentoring, guidance, and behavioural support
  • Help students develop confidence, resilience, workplace readiness, and practical life skills
  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of projects, learning activities, and school-based programs
  • Supervise practical work areas, promoting safe work practices and maintaining equipment and work spaces
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, families, and external agencies to support positive student outcomes
  • Foster an inclusive and respectful environment where young people feel supported, valued, and empowered
  • Assist with administrative tasks, case notes, and reporting requirements
  • Drive the school bus (LR licence required or willingness to obtain)
About You

You are a compassionate, resilient, and positive individual who is passionate about helping young people reach their full potential. You build rapport easily, remain calm under pressure, and enjoy supporting students to achieve personal, educational, and vocational success.

In addition
  • Experience working within practical or vocational learning environments
  • Background in youth work, education, training, community services or a related field
  • A current Blue Card / Working with Children Check
  • Previous experience supporting young people, particularly those at risk or from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Effective behaviour support and conflict resolution abilities
  • Strong communication, mentoring and relationship-building
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and maintain accurate records
