General Function:
Creates floral arrangements at the request of customers and fulfills merchandising needs. Takes floral orders in person and over the telephone and operates as a lead with the floral clerks.
- Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service in all interactions.
- Smiles and greets customers, learns their names and addresses them by name.
- Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing items out of reach, loading/unloading heavy items, and noting customer suggestions.
- Answer the telephone promptly and provide helpful service.
- Work with co‑workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Clean, process and cut flowers, maintain a fresh display and store.
- Act as department manager in the absence of a Manager or Assistant Manager.
- Process and manage FTD, inter‑store, Teleflora and Internet orders.
- Inventory product, evaluate status, care for damaged product, and replace as necessary.
- Fill customer orders and create arrangements in a timely manner.
- Advises customers on plants and floral care.
- Identify key display locations for specials.
- Lead, train and supervise floral clerks.
- Order flowers and supplies as directed by the Floral Manager.
- Handle customer issues and product problems.
- Manage stock: unload trucks, store in appropriate areas and replenish merchandise.
- Wrap flowers carefully to avoid damage.
- Adhere to company policies and store guidelines.
- Report to work on time and per schedule.
- Deliver product as necessary.
- Suggest arrangements for customers (funerals, weddings, anniversaries, etc.).
- Read industry references and keep abreast of new ideas.
- Assist with and may decorate for in‑store events.
- Help in other store areas as required.
- Perform other job‑related duties and special projects as requested.
- Assign, review and plan work for others.
- Maintain standards and coordinate activities.
- Recommend disciplinary actions when appropriate.
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
- Arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages.
- Ability to file, post and mail materials; copy data; interview for basic information; provide basic direction.
High school diploma or three years of similar or related work experience.
Physical RequirementsAbility to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently and 10 pounds constantly. Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach, stand, walk, pull, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear and perform repetitive motions. Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision and field of vision.
WorkingConditions
Work is conducted in a store environment with significant pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities. Some holidays may require extended hours. Exposure to dirt, noise, dangerous chemicals or solvents, dampness and temperature extremes may occur.
Equipment UsedStandard floral tools and equipment: computer, underwater cutter, wire cutter, pricing gun, dosetron, scissors, knives, pick machine, register system, helium tank, telephone.
Contacts and ConfidentialityDaily contact with customers, suppliers/vendors and FTD and Teleflora. Confidentiality of orders must be maintained.
Employment RequirementsMust be 18 years or older. Employment contingent upon completion of a pre‑employment drug screen.
