General FunctionProvides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Creates beginning levels of design work, floral arrangements, and fulfills necessary merchandising needs. Assists customers with placing orders and completes related paperwork. Conducts deliveries and prepares delivery lists.
Reporting RelationsReports to District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, Health & Wellness Home, and Floral Department Manager.
PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Deliver friendly, patient customer service in all interactions, addressing customers by name when possible.
- Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading/unloading heavy items, noting suggestions, and performing any task that enhances the shopping experience.
- Answer the telephone promptly and provide helpful service.
- Assist customers with placing orders in person or over the phone and complete the associated paperwork.
- Work with co‑workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Prepare, finish, and replenish products such as small floral and greenery arrangements, corsages, boutonnieres, roses, carnations, balloons, bows, and plant arrangements.
- Water plants and prepare daily delivery lists.
- Send and retrieve FTD, Teleflora, and other orders via computer.
- Review product status and appearance for freshness.
- Unload trucks, place product in storage, replenish merchandise, check‑in product, put away items, and may process invoices.
- Maintain a clean and neat work area, including coolers, counters, floor, and sink.
- Run department registers, receive payment, and make change where applicable.
- Remove trash promptly.
- Adhere to company policies and personal hygiene and dress guidelines.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Order product and supplies as necessary.
- Price products for customers as necessary.
- Deliver orders as needed.
- Assist in other areas of the store as needed.
- Perform other job‑related duties and special projects as required.
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization and interpret instructions.
- Perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
- File, post, and mail materials; copy data from one record to another.
- Conduct basic interviews to obtain information; guide people and provide basic direction.
Less than high school or six months or less of similar or related work experience.
Physical RequirementsMust be able to perform medium physical work: exert force up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs constantly to move objects. Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach, stand, walk, pull, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and repeat motions. Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet, with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
WorkingConditions
Position performed in a store environment with significant pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities. Exposure to dirt, noise, equipment movement hazards, chemicals/solvents, electrical shock, and dampness.
Equipment UsedStandard tools including computer, underwater cutter, wire cutter, pricing gun, dosetron, scissors, knives, pick machine, register system, helium tank, and telephone.
ContactDaily contact with customers; weekly contact with suppliers/vendors.
ConfidentialityMaintain confidentiality on orders placed (including sender, recipient, order details, and cost).
